Dirty Martini invests £1.75m as it continues regional roll out

Leisure operator CG Restaurants & Bars is preparing for further growth and expansion in 2017, with the announcement that Dirty Martini is set to expand its portfolio with new acquisitions in the nightlife destinations of Leeds and Birmingham.

After recently announcing expansion in Manchester at the start of the year, which has a planned investment of £1.5M for the conversion of the 6,700-sq. foot three floor retail and office space, Dirty Martini has now acquired a Leeds and Birmingham site subject to conditions, bringing the Dirty Martini estate to eleven.

Located at 31 King Street, the Leeds site will be acquired from Atlas Brauhaus. The group plan to invest £800k in the refurbishment of the current restaurant and bar, which has a capacity of 250.

In Birmingham, Dirty Martini have agreed a lease for 7 Bennetts Hill, with REI Plc. The site was previously operated by Viva Brazil and an investment of £950k is planned to overhaul the current restaurant.

The substantial regional investment builds upon the recent success of Dirty Martini Cardiff, which has exceeded expectations and generated over 40,000 pre-booked covers since opening late October.

Dirty Martini has developed a reputation for its high quality, handcrafted cocktails, sophisticated interiors and a spirited atmosphere that makes for an unforgettable night.

Scott Matthews, Chief Executive Officer at Dirty Martini, said “We are excited about bringing our portfolio up to eleven sites with the Birmingham and Leeds locations. Both have a thriving nightlife and we look forward to being a part of it. Our expansion in Cardiff was a huge success, and as a result we are progressing with our national roll out with confidence.”

Ian Clark from REI commented We are delighted to have let the 7 Bennetts Hill, Birmingham site to Dirty Martini. The bar will make a fantastic addition to the area, which currently has a great restaurant and bar trade, and we look forward to an ongoing relationship with CG Restaurants& Bars.  This deal was completed off-market and in just over a week and is testament to the approach that both parties took to make it happen so quickly.”

The bar group currently operates eight sites across the UK in Bishopsgate, Covent Garden, Hanover Square, Islington, Monument, St Paul’s, Minories and Cardiff. Manchester is due to open later in the year. Leeds and Birmingham are also scheduled for late 2017.
